Election Stress
Finding balance after the election
Watch the video below to learn mindful mood management tips from our Senior Behavioral Health Director, Dr. Tracey Mohr.
The election may be over…
But your feelings may just be starting to unfold. Your mental health matters. So whether you’re celebrating or disappointed, let’s explore how to handle it with grace.
4 ideas to prioritize post-election well-being
- Give yourself a break from constant media updates. Limit news consumption. Or check “good news” channels only.
- Practice perspective-taking and mindful awareness. This is one election, and the results won’t last forever.
- Focus on what you can control: your response, and your actions. (Even if you’re upset, you can still exercise, and eat healthy meals.)
- Make time for hobbies and people who lift you up, and create positivity. Savor small things in life that are going well.
If you’re feeling positive vibes…
It’s fine to celebrate responsibly, and respectfully. Here are some things to keep in mind.
- Share your joy with others who feel the same way. Just remember: Empathy is key. Not everyone feels as you do.
- Focus on building unity, and finding common ground. Work constructively with others towards shared goals.
